Strict controls over building and careful town planning have prohibited over-construction and further high rise developments. Trees and parks are plentiful and beaches are kept clean and free from over commercialisation. Recent years have witnessed significant investment in local transport facilities so as to minimize historical congestion. The Toll Road (motorway) now runs from Malaga to Sotogrande (near Gibraltar) allowing easy and rapid access to all areas.
